- Now that we're no longer dependent on AOL's unreliable Web servers, we expect that this site won't be suffering anymore service blackouts.
- Many updates and features were put on hold while the changeover was in progress. Things should get back to normal during the next few weeks.

- The Webcam is back in operation. Our apologies to all who accessed the page in recent days only to find a photo dated "6/10/97."
- Redesigned the links icons on the HOMEPAGE so that they will display normally in older browsers. The old design used plain text with the different table cells having colored backgrounds, but older browsers do not support background colors for individual cells. All those users saw was black text on a black page - i.e., no links at all! I replaced the text with GIF's containing the same information.
- June 15, 1997
- The new Tony Conn page features lots of photos from his recent birthday salute at Crazy Jack's in Burbank. Ronnie Mack's band backed up surprise performances by Tony, Ray Campi, Big Sandy, Russell Scott, Johnny Legend, and Melba Toast. (There were a few others, but we couldn't stay for the last set.)

- June 14, 1997
- Sorry to report that we had a hard drive failure, which prevented further updates to the site for most of the week. A new hard drive is now installed and appears to be working fine, and we can now resume limited work on our Web pages. However, the LA-cam photo may continue to show "6/10/97" for a few more days, as there are still some configuration issues to be worked out.
- Meanwhile, we've noticed that the LA-cam page has had a sudden jump in visitors, more in the past week than we've had in the previous month and a half! We realized it's because we are now listed on the Earth Cam Metro - Los Angeles page, and their listings are included in Yahoo!'s Webcam index. (Thanks, EarthCam and Yahoo!) We hope all our new visitors will come back again after the technical problems are sorted out.

- We were off line all afternoon thanks to AOL's continuing technical incompetence. We apologize to all who tried to access electric LA during the outage.
- Our new domain name ElectricEarl.com has now been registered, and we will soon be moving to a new Web server. We could be doing that right now, since we have already signed up with another company. But we later found that a lot of other companies charge a lot less for a lot more Web space, and so we have decided to cancel our first choice and sign up with another company entirely. Then we have to learn that company's way of uploading Web files.

- Updated the Jacks Sugar Shack calendar again, according to update just received today
- May 29, 1997
- Due to continuing technical problems with AOL's servers, we have taken steps to move electric LA to another Internet service provider. We have found that uploading our files to AOL is a real crap shoot, and sometimes files that have already been posted are not available to people trying to access them over the Internet. This kind of technical incompetence is intolerable, especially for a site that contains a Webcam.
- We also filed for registration of the domain name "ElectricEarl.com" We understand the approval process takes about two weeks.
- The current URL will continue to be good for several weeks at least. After that there will simply be a page with a link pointing to the new URL.

- We have also added an About electric LA page.
- May 12-16, 1997
- We neglected the site for a few days. We were preparing graphics for our Webcam index - not just a text list but clickable thumbnail samples that give you an idea of what you are connecting to.
