I HATE MUSICWORDS & MUSIC: Earl P. Reinhalter
I know you've all seen movies about the world of film. and we always read news stories about how the press is such a gem. and the libraries are full of books on the literary art. and there are so many stage shows about theatre. they all seem to say: the blank-blank industry is wonderful. I'm part of the blank-blank industry. therefore, I am wonderful. now I bet you think that just because I'm up here singing a song that I'm gonna sing you a song about how wonderful the music industry is. I'm not gonna do that at all. I'm not like that. I hate music! I mean what good does it do? they say it soothes the savage beast. well, let them all sing at the zoo. all those nasally nostrilled noses blowing in microphones: the hills are alive with the sound of mucous. I hate music! consider the symphony. in all there's maybe forty strings, four strings on each instrument. and where do catgut strings come from? one hundred and sixty cats! the hills are alive but the cats are dyin'. you'll never hear me say: the music industry is wonderful. I'm part of the music industry. therefore, I am, uh... I hate music!
